Ólafur Jón Jónsson joined Hjálparsveit skáta í Reykjavík as a trainee in 2009 and became a qualified SAR member in 2011. Since that time he has served as a board member, managed team training groups and been a member of the SAR-ICE Council on Search Techniques. He began studying the use of UAVs in search and rescue missions in the beginning of 2015 and now heads the HSSR UAV team.
